Swatch, the official timing provider of the Dubai Expo, has launched the countdown clock at the Dubai Frame. Swatch has been renowned for its collaborations with groundbreaking athletes and has been on the skateboarding scene since the 1980s.
Swatch has unveiled the official Expo 2020 Dubai countdown clock with Egyptian-born, Dubai-raised professional skateboarder Karim Nassar conducted virtually on December 5th, 2020. This virtual event will be taking online viewers on an exciting journey through Dubai before arriving at the Dubai frame to start the clock.
Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of Expo 2020 Dubai, Manal AlBayat, said over this launch: “Opening in the Golden Jubilee Year of the UAE, Expo 2020 is an amazing opportunity to celebrate 50 years of remarkable development and highlight our nation’s hopes and expectations for the future of the country. According to the plan, millions of visitors are anticipated from the UAE & from around the world. The countdown clock is specially designed to engage and excite residents, tourists and encourage them to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
There are a lot of surprises from Swatch to watch as the clock goes down to the grand opening of the next World Expo, including the launch of the Swatch IBTIKAR watch designed exclusively for the event. The name Ibtikar represents innovation and the design features the Expo 2020 Dubai logo, inspired by the ring found at the 4,000-year-old archaeological site in the desert.
What is Expo 2020?
The world’s largest Expo is organized every five years with the goal of sharing top-notch technologies, exhibiting ground-breaking inventions and encouraging solutions to the fundamental challenges faced by humanity.
Expo 2020 is held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. The event will serve as a platform for international cooperation, fostering creativity and building meaningful alliances that will live well beyond 2020. The event anticipates 25 million visitors over 173 days with more than 200 participants from 192 countries.
Expo 2020 Dubai is the latest chapter in Swatch’s history. Over the last 34 years, Swatch has been an official participant at five exhibitions: 1986 in Canada, 1992 in Spain, 1998 in Portugal, 2010 in China and 2015 in Italy.
When is the Expo 2020 Dubai?
Expo 2020, welcomes the world from October 1st, 2021 to March 31st, 2022 and looks forward to bringing its theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ to make a better future for all.
