We have received word from Cochin (COK) Airport Authorities that they are officially closing Cochin Airport until further notice due to severe flooding.

The below rebooking conditions are applicable to Emirates commercial passengers who had purchased tickets on or before August 15, 2018 including travel from/to Cochin, India (COK) between Wednesday, August 15, 2018 and Saturday, August 18, 2018, and who hold tickets issued prior. Passengers who wish to alter their travel plans due to this event may do so as follows:

Rebooking & Re-issue of tickets
- All reissue charges shall be waived.
- Rebooking is permitted onto an available flight to/from the same destination for travel within a 7 day period after the original flight date and in the same booking class.
- There will be at no additional cost to the passenger.
- Applies to both outbound and inbound flight date.
- The Emirates portion should be booked in the original RBD. If the original RBD is not available on one of the EK flights, rebooking is allowed at one level higher RBD in the same cabin.
- Only one Free of Charge (FOC) change shall be permitted per ticket.
- The reissued ticket should be endorsed “INVOL REROUTE – COK AIRPORT CLOSURE.
Re-routing & Re-issue of tickets
- If the new itinerary is not convenient for the passenger, the passenger can be re-routed using JetBlue (B6) or Alaska Airlines (AS) via any Emirates US gateway.
- For booking classes on AS and B6 please refer to the GDS.
- Only one FOC (free of charge) change shall be permitted per ticket.
- Only one FOC (free of charge) change within 7 days of originally booked flight is permitted.
- The re-issued ticket should be endorsed “INVOL REROUTE – COK AIRPORT CLOSURE”.
- The Emirates portion should be booked in the original RBD. If the original RBD is not available on one of the EK flights, rebooking is allowed at one level higher RBD in the same cabin.
Change of destination: The value of the existing ticket may be used towards the purchase of a new ticket. If the new fare is higher than the existing ticketed fare, then the fare difference plus any applicable taxes are payable by the passenger. If the new fare is lower, the difference is NOT refundable.
Only one Free of Charge (FOC) change shall be permitted per ticket.
The reissued ticket should be endorsed “INVOL REROUTE – COK AIRPORT CLOSURE”.
Failure to add above mentioned endorsement message may result in debit memos.
- Alternatively: The residual/refund amount may be converted into an eMD for future travel on EK valid for one year from DOI. The eMD should be annotated “INVOL REROUTE – COK AIRPORT CLOSURE”.Cancellations & Refunds
The following options may be offered to passengers who wish to cancel their trips:
- Fully unused tickets: A full refund may be offered.

- Partially used tickets: Refund of the residual amount after deducting the applicable one-way fare for the journey completed. In the absence of an OW fare, or where the applicable OW fare is higher than original RT fare collect, use 25% of the original base fare and 50% of YQ as the residual amount due to the passenger as well as all unused taxes to process the refund.
