The Metaverse – an immersive world combining virtual reality and augmented reality — is where users are represented by avatars and roam virtual spaces. Virtual environments are being developed as an alternate digital world where customers can connect with one another and even purchase digital products.
Qatar Airways has entered the metaverse with the debut of QVerse, a unique virtual reality (VR) experience for website users.
The airline debuts ‘Sama,’ the industry’s first-ever MetaHuman cabin staff, which invites website visitors on a virtual exploration tour before their next adventure.
The QVerse is a one-of-a-kind, immersive experience that allows website users to virtually explore and navigate the airline’s Premium Check-In facility at Hamad International Airport (HIA) as well as the cabin interiors of its aircraft, including different class cabins. ‘Sama,’ the world’s first MetaHuman cabin staff, is introduced as part of the experience, highlighting Qatar Airways’ dedication to innovation and harnessing new technology to please passengers. Through interaction with the user, the MetaHuman cabin crew provides an engaging customer experience.
Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, the world’s most powerful real-time 3D production engine, and MetaHuman Creator, a cloud-based program for building high-fidelity artificial humans, were used to create the experience.
