KLM Royal Dutch Airlines launched a nonstop flight between Austin – Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) on March 28. The Route will be operated three times a week by KLM between Austin–Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Austin, the state capital of Texas, is KLM’s 19th destination in North America and 12th in the USA. Because of its large concentration of startups and tech businesses Austin is considered an epicenter of the tech industry. This route was supposed to begin in May 2020, however, it was delayed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the large number of venues offering live music performances in the city, often over 100 on the same night, Austin’s official motto is “Live Music Capital of the World.”
After Houston, Austin is KLM’s second destination in Texas. A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will operate the flights, which will include flat beds with direct aisle access, HD entertainment, and onboard Wi-Fi. Several improvements have been included in the airplane to improve passenger comfort, sustainability, and gas efficiency. 30 percent wider windows, ambient LED mood lighting, increased cabin pressure, enhanced humidity, and double air filtration are among the features. When compared to similarly-sized aircraft, the fuel consumption is 20% lower, and there is less noise during take-off and landing. During the production of the airplane, less trash was generated, and end-of-life recycling measures will also be followed.
Through Amsterdam Schiphol, passengers traveling from Austin may connect to nearly 60 destinations in Europe, Africa, and India. Because of its single terminal architecture and plenty of stores and services, the airport is one of Europe’s most popular for transfers.
KL0668 will depart Austin at 6 p.m. local time and arrive at Schiphol at 10:25 a.m. the next day, and KL0667 will depart Schiphol at 12:40 p.m. and arrive in Austin at 4:10 p.m. local time the next day.
Fly Business Class from Austin to Amsterdam at $3,125.
