Qantas Airlines is planning to return to International Flying as vaccinations continuing to roll out across Australia. The return of international flights will help reunite family, friends, colleagues.
In Mid August, the Australian Prime Minister Said that the Country will consider reopening its border when 80% of its adult population is fully vaccinated under the National Pandemic Exit plan. The Country is currently in Phase A of lockdown. It will move to Phase B once 70% of its adult population is vaccinated. The Lockdown is less likely in Phase B and it is projected to happen by the end of 2021.
Based on those projection rates and the Australian Government’s plan for reopening borders, Qantas and Jetstar plan to resume their services on International flights as follows:
- From Mid-December 2021, flights are expected to resume between Australia and Fiji, Singapore, the United States, Japan, United Kingdom, and Canada.
- Hong Kong is expected to added to the list in Mid-February 2022.
- From April 2022 onwards flights between Australia and cities including Bali, Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City and Johannesburg.*
- From mid-December 2021, between Australia and New Zealand in line with the anticipated restart of the trans-Tasman travel bubble.*
The above plans remain subject to the Government Decisions in the upcoming months. We will update you about any plans change.
