Turkish Airlines Resumes Flights to Kabul After Nearly Three-Years

Turkish Airlines Kabul

Turkish Airlines, the airline holding the title of “the airline that flies to more countries than any other in the world” with 346 destinations in 130 countries across 6 continents, has resumed flights to Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, as of May 21, 2024. This marks nearly three years since the carrier’s services were suspended.

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation announced that the first Turkish Airlines flight landed on Tuesday, May 21st, and was welcomed by government officials.

The airline will operate four weekly round-trip flights between Istanbul and Kabul. These flights will run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Turkish Airlines is not the first international carrier to return to Afghanistan. In January, Air Arabia restarted flights to Kabul’s international airport. FlyDubai became the first international carrier to resume flights to Afghanistan in November 2023.

Two Afghan airlines, Kam Air and Ariana Afghan Airlines, also operate out of Kabul, offering flights to destinations including Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Moscow, Russia; Islamabad, Pakistan; and Istanbul, Turkey.

Tickets for Kabul flights became available for purchase on April 26, 2024. These flights operate four times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Round trip fares start from 805 USD, flying from Istanbul to Kabul.
