Australia to reopen its borders to international visitors from February 21

Australia To Reopen Its Borders

Australia has announced the re-opening of its border to vaccinated tourists and other visa holders for the first time in almost two years. The Country will be open to fully vaccinated tourists from February 21, 2022.

The move will boost the tourism Industry and reconnect business travelers with colleagues and customers. The reopening will be welcome news for many other sectors including international education.

The Government closed the country’s borders in March 2020. Since last December, only Australian citizens and permanent residents, their families, and those with certain visas and exemptions are allowed to enter like International students and skilled migrants.

International Travelers are required to provide proof of vaccination. Travelers who are unvaccinated due to medical reasons need to apply for travel exemption.

Following the discovery of the contagious Delta strain, Australia and New Zealand had to put the trans-Tasman travel bubble on hold. The variant forced officials in Australia to postpone important events.

The authorities are gradually lifting the restrictions as hospitalizations and critical care admissions continue to drop in most parts of the country.

Despite the fact that most of the country has opened up, Western Australia (WA) maintains its restrictive policies. Non-residents, especially those from other Australian states, are currently barred from entering unless they receive permission. Check the official Website for more details.
