Air India news: Airlines To Reinstate 70 Flights To US, Canada From June 11 To June 30

Air India will operate 70 flights to to bring back Indians stranded abroad

Air India announced its plan to operate approximately 70 flights to US and Canada from June 11- June 30 under the 3rd phase of Vande Bharat Mission. It will allow people to fly out from India and help stranded Indians to bring back home from there. The booking will be open from June 5 for flights to US & Canada.

Under the 3rd phase of Vande Bharat Mission, flights will operate to the destinations including New York, Newark, Chicago, Washington, San Francisco, Vancouver & Toronto etc between June 9- June 30, 2020.

The Indian government initiated the Vande Bharat Mission on May 7 to bring stranded Indians home from a foreign land on a payment basis during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also allowed foreign nationals and valid visa holders to book seats on certain flights outbound.

As per the recent tweet of Aviation minister H S Puri, More flights will be added to Mission Vande Bharat to allow stranded and distressed Indians to return home. In the 3rd phase of the Plan, Air India will operate 70 flights to destinations in the USA and Canada from June 11 to June 30, 2020.

Emirates Airlines Resumes Flights To 12 Arab Countries

Hardeep Singh Puri tweeted on this issue, “Many citizens have been approaching us to resume international flights. But there were several factors which need to be addressed. We have been contacted by multiple people to resume international flights. Many international destinations restricted passengers traffic, except for their own citizens or diplomats. Most international flights operate throughout India from the metro stations where travelers arrive from neighbouring cities and states”

“MHA lockdown guidelines 5.0 have further opened inter and intrastate travel, facilitating calibrated reopening of the sector. As we move towards the critical mass of 50-60% domestic flight operations, we will also improve our ability to resume international operations,” the minister tweeted.

According to the recent update, under Vande Bharat Mission more than 50,000 Indian citizens have been brought back to the country. In the meanwhile, international commercial passenger flights will be suspended until June 30.
