Air Canada to Launch first Non-Stop Service to Thailand | Resume service to Mumbai

When it begins service to Bangkok (BKK) later this year, Air Canada will establish its first-ever nonstop route to a southeast Asian location.

Beginning on December 1, the Star Alliance member will run four flights each week between Vancouver (YVR) and the Thai capital. A Boeing 787 will fly the route on a seasonal basis through April 14 at that time.

Air Canada will also restart the service to Mumbai (BOM) starting on October 29. With a 787 aircraft, the carrier will operate daily flights between Toronto Pearson (YYZ), London Heathrow (LHR), and Boston (BOM). The service is seasonal and will run through March 26.

“We are also excited to return to Mumbai, India’s largest city and an important financial, commercial, and entertainment hub, complementing our 13 weekly flights from Canada to Delhi. Our Mumbai services are scheduled to operate with a stop in London Heathrow, offering connectivity to more than a dozen Air Canada and Star Alliance partner United Airlines flights between North America and London, as well as additional options for travel between the UK and India. The India market remains very important to Air Canada, and we are committed to resuming our currently paused non-stop services on Toronto-Mumbai and Vancouver-Delhi when circumstances allow.”

– Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President, Network Planning and Revenue Management, Air Canada

The opening of the YVR-BKK and YYZ-LHR-BOM routes depends on Air Canada receiving the necessary government permissions.

From Toronto and Montreal (YUL), Air Canada already offers daily service to Delhi (DEL). Both routes run all year. The airline plans to restart the 3X-weekly YVR-DEL service with a technical stop in Dublin (DUB) starting on October 1.

Additionally, Air Canada will increase its service to South America and the South Pacific. Seasonal flights from the carrier to Auckland, Sydney, and Brisbane will resume. With flights from Montreal and Toronto to Lima, Peru, some seasonal service to South America is also anticipated to continue.
