According to media sources, the UAE has issued a new regulation requiring travelers to and from the Emirates to have both their primary (first name) and secondary (surname) identities listed in their passports.
According to a Source, the circular indicated that beginning on November 21, 2022, travelers having only one name will not be permitted to enter the Emirates.
A valid residence permit or work visa holder is exempt from this new naming policy, and the same name is updated in both the first and surname columns.
According to sources, existing residents with resident cards are exempt from the regulations and may travel with a single name on their passports if they have a residency or employment visa. The regulations only apply to travelers, visitors, or on-arrival visa holders.
It was made clear that passengers traveling on a tourist/visit visa or any other type of visa with only one name on their passports would not be permitted to do so.
