What Is A Real ID

REAL ID-compliant is a federal law that governs how states issue driver’s licenses and ID cards when they are necessary for federal purposes, such as boarding a domestic commercial flight or accessing a military facility or a federal facility requiring Identification.

To verify your ID complies with the Real ID requirement, look for a gold circle in the upper right corner along with the star. If you haven’t received a new state ID in the past year, you have to apply for a Real ID.

Who Requires Real ID?

Real ID Act is applicable to all travelers over age 18 to present Real ID-compliant identification to fly. Travelers might not be aware of the real ID deadline. DHS is playing a crucial role in ensuring that travelers are aware of the real ID deadline and the requirements.

2. Passport or Passport card- It is a unique identification card that is officially issued by the United States federal government. This card will help you identified for travel within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, The Caribbean and Bermuda. The card is handy as they come in the regular size of a credit card.

Travelers don’t need to worry about the real ID compliant if you have any of below ID,

  • U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Employment Authorization Card
  • Permanent resident card
  • U.S. Department of Defense ID
  • Border crossing card
  • Federally permitted Enhanced Driver’s License
  • State-issued, tribal-issued photo ID
  • US HSPD-12 PIV card
  • Government-issued foreign passport
  • Canadian resident driver’s license or Indian and Northern Affairs Canada card
