Emirates Commercial Newsletter

As part of Emirates Seat Selection Policy, Advance Seat Reservation (ASR) charges were introduced in October 2016 to offer customers a more personalized choice based on their travel needs. Since then, customers travelling on an Economy Special or Saver ticket are subject to seat selection charges if they want to select their seat before online check-in opens (at 48 hours to departure) whilst customers travelling in First, Business or on an Economy Flex or Flex plus ticket can select seats at no extra charge any time after ticketing. On 20 August 2017, Emirates will start differentiating Economy class seats by introducing three new categories of extra value seats:

• Preferred seats are closer to the front of the plane and allows for a faster disembarkation. In most of our planes, preferred seats are in smaller cabin sections, such as first rows of the Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, first rows of the A380 lower deck, and on the A380 2-class upper deck.

• Twin seats allow customers to travel on a row of only window and aisle seats. This configuration of seats can be found on the last rows of the Boeing 777 and on the upper deck of the A380 2 class.

• Extra Legroom seats are exit row seats across our entire fleet. These seats allow eligible customers to benefit from extra legroom. Bulkhead seats are not considered extra legroom and are available only to passengers travelling with infants, free of charge.

Before online check-in opens, some passengers may be entitled to complimentary seat selection depending on fare brand, seat category and Emirates Skywards tier. When online check-in opens, complimentary seat selection is available to all passengers on any available Regular, Preferred and Twin seats. Extra legroom seats can be purchased until 6 hours before departure. Passengers who require special assistance are assigned suitable seats before departure free of charge. We are working with our Global Distribution Systems partners to implement selection of extra value seats on GDS. Until such time, extra value seats must be booked via Manage a Booking on Emirates.com whilst regular seats will still be bookable through your GDS.
