Canada Open its Border for US Citizens

Canada will begin to ease the entry restriction from August 9. Fully vaccinated US citizens and permanent residents living in the United States who tested negative for Covid-19 will be allowed to cross the border. 

Entry is allowed to fully vaccinated US citizens and permanent residents with Canadian-authorized vaccines. The Travellers must be asymptomatic and present a negative Covid molecular test taken within 72 hours of flight departure or arrival at a land crossing. Canada is not open for tourism, only essential travel is allowed.

Children age 12 and below who are travelling with fully vaccinated parents will be exempt from the quarantine requirements. Officials said that group settings such as camps or day-care should be avoided in the first 14 days after arrivals. They are required to take the coronavirus test on the first and eighth days after entering Canada.

The Vaccines allowed by Canadian regulators are Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. That includes all vaccines authorized for use in the United States. But it excludes those made in Russia and China, including somewhat have been authorized by the World Health Organization.

Only essential travelers, extended family members, international students, and few other exceptions are allowed to enter the country at the moment.
