England is now open to fully vaccinated visitors from the European Union and the United States from August 2, 2021. The UK government has lifted the mandatory 10- day quarantine for fully vaccinated travelers from the US and European Union. Travelers will only need to take a PCR test pre-departure and a PCR test on the second day after they arrive. Travelers must provide proof of vaccination approved by the European Medicines Agency, or US FDA.
With demand expected to increase for travel across the pond, United Airlines announced that it has added more flights to London beginning in August.
United Airlines Adds London Flights
In August, the Airlines will have six daily flights between London Heathrow (LHR) and the USA, including:
- Chicago (ORD)
- Houston (IAH)
- Newark (EWR)
- San Francisco (SFO)
- Washington (IAD) – 2x daily
Washington service was just once daily before and Houston service was 5 times per week instead of daily. All the flights will continue to fly in September.
Travelers can upload and store COVID-19 test results and vaccination records on United Airlines Travel-Ready center.
Although the start date has not been specified, United Airlines plans to move forward with its new service from Boston (BOS) to London.
The move will boost the country’s travel industry recovery. It will help to reunite family and friends.
“We’ve taken great strides on our journey to reopen international travel and today is another important step forward. Whether you are a family reuniting for the first time since the start of the pandemic or a business benefiting from increased trade this is the progress we can all enjoy,” said UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
The UK government said International cruises can depart from England once more, with the new guidance.
Airlines welcomed the move but made clear that more is needed if the industry has to recover from the collapse in demand.
