Turkish Airlines will provide a one-night stay in a four-star hotel for economy class passengers and a two-night stay in a five-star hotel for business class passengers with a hotel voucher issued after the ticket purchase for passengers with long connection times to spend quality time in Istanbul. Passengers will also have the option of staying at one of the contracted hotels, which will start at $49.
The stopover service received a lot of interest from tourists who used Istanbul as their transfer point after it launched in 2017, but it was put on hold owing to the pandemic. As the pandemic’s effects fade, the flag carrier will resume this service in March 2022, bringing the passenger experience to a new level.
So far, approximately 57 thousand transfer passengers from 42 countries and 108 locations have had the opportunity to visit Istanbul through stopover service. In order to support Turkey’s tourist sector, the project’s scope will be expanded to include 15 more nations by 2022. (Kenya, Zambia, Mozambique, Indonesia, South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal, Argentina, Brazil, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain).
